Hi Ian
Thanks for your reply.
The baptism in question is that of Dorothy Eva Earl born 15 February 1923 in Hospital for women Wright Street, Hull, baptised 23 February 1923 St. Mary & St Peter's Church Dairycoates Hull.
I don't personally have a copy of the baptism.
Dorothy was 'given away' and probably (still to trace) formally adopted by Mary Mensforth who emigrated to Australia with Dorothy Earl Mensforth in 1926.
It's complicated with the actual birth registration being on 11 February
1926 which was 3 years after Dorothy's birth 15 February 1923.
The Birth registration on Ancestry.co.uk Births is actually on the Jan-March 1923 list but handwritten at the bottom right hand corner Dorothy E M Earl Sculcoates 9d

26I suspect Mrs Mensforth had to have a birth registration before she could emigrate to Australia with Dorothy?
The cousin (my wife's) is trying to trace any relevant records other than what we have.
