In relation to Elwynn Souter's reply re the father not being named on the marriage cert and therefore, he could be illegitimate, if those records were found on the AncestryIreland database and the father's name was not given, then it meant that the record was taken from the church records and not the civil register.
Father's names are not given on marriage records in the RC church and therefore, don't appear on their database. It looks like Ancestry Ireland do not have the civil record on their files. You need to order the marriage cert to verify that Wiliam's father was William Ward, but I am sure that you are right that his parents were William Ward and Bridget O'Hare.
I can only find a marriage for a William Ward and Mary Rooney in 1881 in Warrenpoint (on Emerald Ancestors) but Ancestry / Family Search does have a Mary Byrne on the same page and vol. no along with 4 others. It might be that Mary Byrne was a widow (having previously been married to a Byrne) - widows usually married again under their married name, not their maiden name. Again, it might be worthwhile getting that marriage cert to establish the bride's name. In Warrenpoint, the surname was spelt Burns, Byrne and Byrnes, so look out for that when you are doing your research.
