James Matthew Kendrick
« on: Thursday 17 May 12 11:23 BST (UK) »
Hi there, I am new to this site and was trying to trace my friend's grandfather, James Matthew Kendrick born 1904 in Wolverhampton. He married Gwendoline Helene Mundy in 1933 in Islington, and had two children, Dorothy Helene Gwendolin Mundy b1934 and Joan L b1936.

I saw a post by RachelK on Soldiers in the First World War on Monday 28 February 05 19:35 GMT (UK) saying James Matthew Kendrick was her great uncle, but I am a bit rushed, have just joined the site and couldn't see quickly a way of contacting her ???

Have to go now :(

Hi welcome to Rootschat

Here is the link to RachelK's profile, from here you can send her a PM (personal message) You will need to have made 3 posts before you can do this, so just reply to this message twice.

However Rachel hasn't been on line since November 2011.

I did have the time to click the link to Rachel's profile and note that she hadn't been online since Nov 2011,. I 'll spend some time tonight getting to know this site and find more information about my friend's grandfather  :)

Hi Dawn

If you need any help, just post a question on here, there are lots of clever people who are great at breaking down brick walls. We cant post information from the 1911 census though, and nothing about anyone who is or may still be alive.

Good luck

Jan

Thanks Jan,

My first stumbling block has been James Matthew, I have researched the Mundy side of the family back to about 1844 (I only started this month :)).

Hi Dawn,
I'm friends with Rachel on Facebook, we share the same gg grandparents, Thomas Kendrick and Mercy Onions. My g grandad Walter and her g grandad were brothers.
I will send her a message and hopefully she will be in touch with you.

Regards
Andrea

Hi Dawn got your message and thanks Andrea for sharing some of the family history with Dawn.

Lovely to hear from you, what does your friend Mark know of his Kendrick side, nothing presumably? his grandad James was brother of my grandad Thomas Ralph Kendrick meaning we are second cousins. I don't really know anything about James or their other brother Joseph... but I do know they had a younger half sister from their mother's second marriage * and she is still alive and in Wolverhampton (my dad has contact with her.) I was intrigued by the coincidence that James died in Croydon which is very near where I live now, although don't know why he came down to London. Another coincidence, I have a brother named Mark lol.

I have quite a lot of info beyond that from James' parents Letitia Ralph and Joseph Kendrick back to the late 1700's where the Kendrick family were in Stourbridge, Worcestershire. I haven't been able to get further as can't find a definite baptism record for a particular Kendrick. My tree is on tribal pages, let me know if you want to see it and I'll give you a message about that. I also had a genealogy page on facebook with pics of several relatives, although it appears to be defunct now due to facebook changing group formats. If Mark is interested though I can try and get it back running though so he could see and add any pics or stories. Andrea posted a nice picture there of her g grandad Walter at her mother's wedding.

Do you know if your Wolverhampton Kendrick's were related to either the Dudley or Walsall Kendrick's?
