France 1700's Birth or Baptism in Paris or Picardy
« on: Thursday 17 May 12 08:38 BST (UK) »
Hi Folks

I am looking for a record of birth/baptism of James Colebrooke in Picardy about 1771 and a record of birth/baptism for John Colebrooke about 1773 in Paris. Can anyone tell me if it is possible to search in French archives online to find these records.

Robert Colebrooke is the father of and Mary Williams is the mother. They weren't married.

Many thanks

Richard
Garrett (particularly in Hampshire); Miller (particulalry in Hampshire); Goodey/Goody (particularly in London, Middlesex and South Oxfordshire); Phillips, Williamson and Crockett all in Buckinghamshire; Farnham in Cornwall, Pyne in Sussex and Ireland; Mursell in Hampshire and Isle of Wight; Burnett in Scotland; Bramham in Yorkshire; Colebrooke; Watts

From my effforts it is very fragmented you need to find out very precice details of were and when the person you are looking for was born marriade or died. then you have to apply to the office that holds the records a good background in French will help mine is Zero.

best of luck

Beaujoaiswine sorry about the miss spellings previous on posting hit wrong key for spell check yesterday and there it was gone.

Please go to this site.   www.crwflags.com/fotw/flags/

On the front page find  "Go to your Area"  and click on it. its below the flags mid page

when it opens drop down to" Municipal &  Subnational [Towns etc         ] "  click this line a page will come up called "Index for Subnationals" scroll down to

France select one of the options eg Region Map, Department map, Traditional map this is were Picardie is and it covers about 3 or 4 modern Departments.

This should help you to at least focus on a smaller area were you may find your records

I found this site very use full in my case.

Good luck
