I have been transcribing my gggrandfather James Peter McPherson's diary (1850-1900). He settled in a Scots community in Springdale in 1850, after emigrating to America in 1842 from Dundee. He and most of his Scots cohorts in Springdale were born in the early 1800s.
McPherson was close to the Stewarts(John, James, Donald); the Adamsons(Thomas and Anna); and the Cairncrosses (William and Alexander). There may have been a family connection with these families and my McPherson family.
Other Scots in the area,
Wm. & Thomas Henderson,
John Beat,
John and James Edie,
Thomas McGregor,
John McDonald,
John Beath,
Thomas Thompson,
John Gow,
W. Waddell,
Ann Brown,
Daniel Gordon,
James McKay,
W. Menzies,
John Mitchell,
Davidson,
Robert Sibbald(Sibbles/Sibbels)
John Lyle,
John McGaughey
and others.
Most of these folks were from Perth, Dundee, or surrounding areas.
I would love to hear from anyone that has connections with these folks.
