Have you got Frederick's marriage certificate?  It should give his father's name and that would perhaps help us find something for you.

Welcome to Rootschat. There's not a townland called Mulbarton in Co. Antrim so the census record is probably either mis-transcribed or mis-written. Have you seen to original or just viewed a transcription?
It's most likely Mullcarton for Mullaghcarton- Magheragall civil parish, Lisburn Poor Law Union/registration district.

Unfortunately registration of births didn't start until 1864 so you'd need to know the family's religion to search for church records.

Frederick's marriage certificate should list father's name and occupation- do you have the certificate yet?
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

This could possibly be Frederick's father

Clarke           James            Mullaghcarton         Magheragall     Antrim

I copied this from Griffiths Valuation of Ireland taken in 1861-62 when Frederick would have been a child.

Mullaghcarton is about 5 miles west of Lisburn on the B104.

Let us know when you get the marriage certificate and we'll see if any details can be found in Irish records.

Just in case you find that Frederick's father was James, here is a marriage record which I might lose in the meantime.

James Clarke, born 1816, aged 35, father John Clarke
married Mary Potter born 1821,aged 30, father Henry Potter
on 10 June 1851 in Glenavy, Antrim.

This COULD BE Frederick's parents, but might be a red herring, so keep it for the moment.
