wilson orwin complete thanks
« on: Wednesday 16 May 12 11:22 BST (UK) »
Hi I am trying to track down any info on a Wilson Orwin born in 1851 in Bishopwearmouth, Durham, England.  This guy married  Jane Chambers way back in 1872, whom I believe to be my GGGrandma. If I am on the right lines Jane, unmarried, gave birth to Elizabeth Ann in 1868  and her birth registered as a Chambers. Jane married a Wilson Orwin in 1872 so Elizabeth could be Wilsons daughter, but sadly Jane died in 1875,possibly in childbirth. My father and one of his uncles had the middle name Wilson and ive always wondered where it came from and this looks a possibility.
I have looked through a few Orwin posts on here but found nothing new. I have also looked at an excellent website "the descendants of John Orwin"and Wilson is indeed on here. There are 8 generations from the original John so somebody has done an enormous amount of research. I would very much like to correspond with the guy responsible for this website. For info the link is http://www.orwin.info/Orwin/d4.html#c218 and the d4 is fourth generation by changing this number from 1-8 will show other generations. Does anybody know how I might find out who owns this site?

Hi Helen thanks for all the info. In 1881 Elizabeth Ann age 12 is living with her aunt Mary, her mothers sister, and her husband Joseph Fulton in Lisburn Terrace Bishopwearmouth, Durham, England She is listed  as a neice with the surname Irwin, picking up her mums new surname,so all that really fits. Joseph Fulton was later a witness at Elizabeths wedding to John Robert Robinson in Grimsby in 1890. This is the family I am researching. Maybe she wasnt Wilsons child, I dont think I will ever know, I just thought it strange she appeared to pick up her mums new name if only for a while, because Elizabeth was married as a Chambers!
Thanks again, as I replied earlier I have written to the guy who manages the Orwin website though I dont hold a lot of hope as the Orwin page hasnt been updated for a few years.
Thanks Tony
