Baptism Lookup Plymouth Area - GALSWORTHY

Hi,

I was wondering if someone could help me find the baptism for an Ann Galsworthy in the Plymouth area. She married Samuel Kelly 11 Jul 1763 at Charles the Martyr, Plymouth, Devon. The withnesses at the wedding were John Galsworthy and Gideon Galsworthy. Both John and Gideon were married within a few years of Ann at the same parish, so I suspect they were her brothers. I haven't been able to find baptisms for any of them at this stage.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello Miss Jane,

It's possible they may have come from Wembworthy. On Ancestry there is a family tree which lists a Gideon Gallisworthy who married in 1696 and had children in Wembworthy. He was buried there in 1719. Unfortunately, this parish is not covered by family search.

Thanks for that Lizzie Jean. That sounds hopeful. You wouldn't think there would be many people around with a name like Gideon Galsworthy.

Is there any one out there with access to the Wembworthy parish records?

See http://genuki.cs.ncl.ac.uk/DEV/Wembworthy/index.html - you can contact the OPC by scrolling down to genealogy for the link. However, I have found many parish register entries for the name GALLSWORTHY at Wembury which is much closer to Plymouth. Wembworthy is in North Devon. There is alo an OPC for Wmbury - see http://genuki.cs.ncl.ac.uk/DEV/Wembury/index.html
