Bradford central library  has a city Roll of Honour listing lads from the City that served. Its held at the library on microfiche but if you are going to visit id call first as the place is half shut due to health and safety it has addresses and unit served in.
Keighley has a card system listing lots of lads if the appeared in the local papers through obituary, wounding or sometimes enlistments.
Halifax library has West Riding Regiment enlistment rolls but again if you are going to check id phone first.

I thought the trousers may have been "Hospital Blues" bottoms but they dont look light enough maybe hes just not wearing his boots?

Hi biker1, hope you don't mind me throwing in a suggestion about the lack of putees, but it looks like he might have lost his leg, this would explain why the lack of. Could that be the artificial leg that they were first issued with. Yours lowanslow.

The first photograph appears to be in a photographic studio with painted scenery in the background. The second photograph may be in an public building of some kind - not so apparent that it is a studio. Both the sitting couple in the second photograph have wedding rings on.

lowanslow - a good sugestion re the leg? I have a image of him in civvies when he appears to be a little older but he is stood behind his wife (the lady in the photo sat down) so you cant tell if its false or not?

As I dont know the 'man' (its him thats the relation to me by the way) I cant search the WW1 limited records to see if that was the case.

barryd - having the original photo helps me a bit and I can say that it is a 'false' studio backdrop.
They are married - see above.

I'd like it to be that 'T' but no matter how many times I study it under the magnifying glass I cant get it to look like that - very frustrating.

What does that square bit of plain sewn cloth represent on the side of his shoulder?

Squares a Divisional Patch but hard to tell which as we dont know colour.

If the lad had lost a leg then id expect to see him been discharged with SWB  or "List" annotated on his Medal Index Card

Regarding my 1st photo - after looking under the magnifying glass and trolling through lots of emblems I think the emblem on his shoulder looks very similar to the 11th Hussars.

Is there anything that you learned guys see in the image that could contradict this?

Hi Biker1
The shoulder title wouldnt be the same as a cap badge.

What was the name of the lad in the first photo? If he served overseas he 99% will have a Medal Index Card on the National Archives site. The MIC will list his units There may be a few lads with similar names but it narrows it down.
