Help!! What name?
« on: Friday 20 May 05 15:03 BST (UK) »
Can anyone make out the name of the bridegrooms father and brides fathers Alias on this image?
The brides fathers name I have looked up on various site (BMD,census, family etc.) and transcribers have him down as the following:-
Baricas,Bayne,Barjew,Barjeu,Barjen..............the trouble is that I don't think it's any of those!!
The Alias I can't make out at all.
Sensible suggestions please...........my lovely husband has already suggested the round onion things we have delivered from the local takeaway!!
The certificate was ordered from the GRO on Monday and arrived yesterday......a pat on the back is deserved.

Do you think it's Bay or Barj? the Y could be a fancy Y.
His surname is Cozens.
He is my Gx2 grandfather.............thank goodness they didn't carry the name on.................probably couldn't read the records!!

I thought maybe January for the Alias too.
Why would someone have an Alias anyway?

Probably because no one could pronounce his real name or more likely there was another (maybe cousin) in locality
