Recent(ish) Burial
« on: Saturday 12 May 12 17:27 BST (UK) »
Hello you lovely people..

I am trying to track down the burial spot of my (half)aunties father.. Its a long story but the highlights are..
Lawrence Tennant - died 13 Oct 1971 aged 32 in a motorbike accident.. The record says Shrewsbury, Shropshire - but we have been told that the burial may have been in Telford.. My aunt was 3 months old at the time so has no idea where he is.. Her mother is not giving anything away.. I have tracked down some relatives for her and they informed us they came down from Durham and it they are sure it was Telford (along time ago of course)...

How do I try and find where he is??
My aunt was told by her mother that he has a paupers grave and no headstone - thats why she couldnt be taken there.. but his family were very strong Catholic family so I cant see that being the case??

Anyway ANY help or advice would be gratefully received.. I feel so bad that my aunt cant even go pay her respects to her father... She hadnt even seen a photo of him but I managed to fix that for her.. Now just this one last thing and she will be able to move on... xx

Hi,

If the family came to the Telford area from Durham, then I assume one or more of them were miners who transferred from Durham in the early/mid 1960s.

If so, the collieries they transferred to would have been Madeley Wood or Granville.

The Catholic church in Madeley was St Mary's and those near Granville would have been at Donnington or the main one St Patrick's, Wellington.

Perhaps you could try and contact the local priest to find where the burial took place.
