Hmmm. If the main road past Drumgelloch House and through Clarkston is enumerated as the Edinburgh and Glasgow Road, then maybe Drumgelloch Road is the not-quite-parallel road to the north, which is the one that Viewfair is on?

However on the 1898 25-inch OS map and on www.streetmap.co.uk this is named as Colliertree Road. The E and G Road is now named Forrest Street.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

An ancestor's birth at Fairview was registered in 1863 in the "Landward of New Monkland in the County of Lanark".

As I am unable to locate Fairview on a copy of an Ordnance map which was revised about 1895, I am wondering if someone is able to tell me where to find this place. I suspect that it was in the vicinity of Clarkston and Drumgalloch.

Also would "Landward" be another name for Parish, perhaps?

I have just seen this post though I realise it is quite old.
My great grandfather was Thomas Allan Craig (born 1855 in New Monkland). He married Jane Richmond and then Margaret Richmond and lived in Fairview, Colliertree Road, Airdrie. I believe it is in the Clarkston area of Airdrie. He had 16 children with Jane and a further 3 with Margaret. His parents were William Craig and Margaret Allan. Any use?

I look forward to your comments.

Minniehaha. (New Zealand).

Late to the party but I also have family in 1861 living at what appears to be “New Monkland Clarkston on Druingelloch Road on Fair View”. Can’t find any info on it though :/

As stated previously by Forfarian, it is recorded on earlier maps as Viewfair

By 1910 it is identified as Fairview
