Thanks Eli and Althea. I am relatively new to this and I understand now.  I was wondering Althea how do you research undertaker's records? This may lead to new clues for me on other branch lines.

You can try directly with the cemetery or when you know the undertaker..google for their email address, then email them direct to see if they have newspaper notices, death certs etc.

The Norths Shore Branch of NZSG have a NZ HErald index for post 1950
google their address.
It is a postal service..NZ and overseas..you send a self addressed envelope and enclose a small donation
You can supply them with a list of possible names and they will look them up for you and send you the death notices that could be relevent

Additional to Elli's explanation re: Eva Ilie May ANDREW married RANKIN ....

This lady remarried following her divorce.

Death

1975 - BARRY - Eva Ilie May - (date of birth 21 May 1902)

The date of birth given at her death, is also a match for the (1902) child recorded as  "Eva Hia May ANDREWS" - d/o Esther March and Martin Casey ANDREW.  (D.o.b. deduced from online Birth index.) 

[Electoral rolls - Auckland area, from 1946 - show her as "Eva Eilie May BARRY with husband, Andrew Charles BARRY. ]

A probate file held at Archives New Zealand (Auckland) records

I see what Althea means (Reply #3) about the marriage of Eva to Mr Rankin.

The marriage entry reads: 1926/4412   ANDREW Eva Ilie May  to  RANKIN Albert Edwards

which points to the 1902 birth of ANDREW Eva Hia May to parents Esther March and Martin Casey ANDREW

So, probably not your 'Eva' - just possibly a little wild goose chase in the making.

But subject of this thread is "Rankin family", so isn't  the Eva we are looking for the Eva Ilie May ANDREW.

Her name is spelt  Eva Ilia May ANDREW on birth microfiche, so probably the BDM Eva Hia May spelling is an error.

This lady re-married in 1944 and died 1975 and buried at Mangere.

Had been about to ask, how it was that you'd linked the "Eva .... RANKIN" back to this ANDREW family (Frances and John).     

Things are are little clearer now though with the information from your ROBINSON family thread.   

As I understand it then, you are looking for descendants of any of the children of Frances Ethel (nee ROBINSON) and John Howard Mollet ANDREW, with a view to finding further info about Frederick ROBINSON who was an adoptive brother of Frances Ethel ?

Can you confirm this is correct please ?

That is correct. My g g grandfather was Frederick Robinson who was adopted into Robert and Isabella's family in the 1880's. Frances was his  sister.

Frances married John Andrew and they had three children I believe - Eva in 1909, Anne Gwenyth known as Nancy in 1910 and Irwin in 1913. Janette found Nancy and Irwin's graves for me and I am wondering if Eva's relations are out there. I made an incorrect assumption before all my facts were checked, in relation to the marriage. I do not know if she married or not.
Any help would be greatly appreciated from the novice genealogist. Thanks
