McIvor/McKeever - Drumgavenny
« on: Saturday 05 May 12 11:57 BST (UK) »
Hello

I am a descendant of John and Rose McIvor of Drumgavenny.  John was born about 1799 and died 28 February 1869, and Rose was born about 1804 and died 28 January 1880.  Their children included John, James, Catherine, Nancy, Michael, Bridget Jane and my gggrandmother Mary Ann.

John married Ellen O'Hagan on 27 September 1877, and they had four children - Bridget Jane, born 3 June 1879, who married Daniel Hegarty on 11 August 1898 at Dungiven; Patrick, born 17 February 1881; William John, born 2 September 1882; and Mary Anne, born 2 September 1884.

My gggrandmother Mary Ann married William Leech of Glack, and had three children (baptised at St Finlough's, Ballykelly) - Bridget Jane, born 25 February 1859; Abraham (my ggrandfather) born 13 July 1861; and Catherine (later McVeigh), born 23 October, 1863.

I am having difficulty filling in details of the life of William and Mary Ann Leech.  I do not know when Mary Ann was born.  I do not know anything of William's parents or siblings.  I do not where the couple married, or where they are buried, although there is evidence Mary Ann returned to Drumgavenny.

Any information relating to John and Rose McIvor or the Leech family would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,
A book was published recently about families who lived in the Gelvin electoral district. It includes a fairly lengthy account of John and Rose McIver and their descendants in Drumgavenny. The book, Gelvin the Home Place, is available from various outlets in the Limavady and Dungiven areas.

Thank you for responding to my request for information, however, I already have the book.  It is a wonderful resource about the area, and I am hoping further research will connect me to other families featured in its pages.

Hi,
I am descendant of Bridget Jane, born 3 June 1879, who married Daniel Hegarty on 11 August 1898 at Dungiven. I have no information going back past John Mc Ivor who married Ellen O'Hagan on 27 September 1877. But I have  information going forward to Bridget Jane's descendants.

The information I have I would be willing to share- I have John Mc Ivor's will from July 1898( your gggrandmother's brother). I also have a picture of Bridget Jane 1879.( Your gggrandmother's neice) and some other bits.

Pm me if you want to share information.
