Another Pitt in America again!!She is Ellen Pitt-1873(Moreton Say,Shropshire)-England and is in New Jersey around 1910 but the trail goes cold again after this and I wonder could she have married and is under another name.I am also interested in her occupation in 1910.Any help gratefully received.

She was a servant for a private family in 1910.

Thank you for that.I thought she might have been a servant so that makes sense.I have that many Pitts going to America that it is a bit of an uphill task finding them.

Ellen was working for the Chew family in 1910.  Although the year of birth and date are slightly adrift, ellen Beatrice Pitt is working for the Chew family on the 1920 Census
Woodbury Ward 2, Gloucester, New Jersey. Ellen is single and born England.

The California death record gives a maiden name for Joseph's mother as "Plant" but tree entries say she was Sarah "Green"

Margaret was given up for adoption to the Chew family because her Mother had no means to support her.The Chew family raised her like their own child. Her mother Ellen continued to live and work in the Chew home and was able to see her daughter grow up. It wasn't until Ellen was very ill did the Chew's revel to Margaret that Ellen was her Mother. Ellen died soon after and is buried with the Chew Family in Pitman , New Jersey.
