Cliffords on census after 1898

Looking for Hugh Clifford born 1889 he is my grandfather and a brickwall! On his marriage certificate and war certificates he said he was born glasgow Scotland but I have checked and all the lookups do not help with only one Hugh Clifford of similar age but turns out it is not him. His fathers name was John and he was a printer and his mothers name was Barbara English and she was meant to have been living in America so I wondered if Hugh was on any American census with his parents Thank you Anne

Sorry I was looking at Hugh Cliffords service record and he was born 12 Nov 1898  Lanark Scotland have looked at map of Scotland and found there is actually a town called Lanark was wondering if anyone could do a look up for me

If you mean WWI service records then it's possible none exist (only about a third survive).

WW2 in Australia He enlisted 29th April 1940 place of enlistment Caulfield Victoria Australia date of discharge 14 Sept 1943

You've mentioned Scotland and America here but now say Australia and WWII. My reply referred to WWI British Army records.

Have you looked at Australia National Archives website?
