SURBITON, SURREY
« on: Tuesday 01 May 12 17:10 BST (UK) »
Can anyone help me please. I believe there was a laundry in Surbiton or Kingston in the early 1960's, I don't suppose anybody could give me more details about this?

I'm guessing you don't know the name of it but do you know the name of the owner?

Better to look for the name.

There must be dozens if not hundreds of laundries in Surbiton & Kingston.

Sorry I don't know the name or the owners name, all I know is that it was there in the early 60's.

Any idea what part of Kingston/Surbiton.

Do you mean a laundry that collected sheets etc and took them away to wash and iron them or do you mean a laundrette (ie a shop that you took your washing into)

I suppose that in those days it was always possible that it was a hospital laundry.

Could have been although I don't think so. It must seem that I am speaking in riddles here. I met up with my natural mother quite a few years ago now but she wouldn't tell me much about my father other than his christian name and that they met at the laundry where they both worked. I realise it is a really long shot just hoping that someone was around in the right time to know a name of a laundry which may help me.
