Hello all

Just to let you know myself and Glencare were privileged to attend Jan's funeral today. It was a lovely service conducted by a wonderful vicar with a strong clear voice and a sense of humour! The church is as Glen said " a proper church" set opposite a duckpond in a little village with a primary school next to it. Sorry I cant find a picture at the moment, but it has the most wonderful Yew arch as you go in. Helen read Ed's poem without a hitch, although I must say it brought a lump to my throat even though I had read it before. As the coffin was being removed from the church a blackbird started singing as if to welcome her. The internment  took place in a lovely well maintained graveyard next to the church. With the birds twittering in the trees and the children from the primary school at playtime next door it is a very "happy place" to be laid to rest.

After the service Glen and I got to talk to Helen and Richard, Jan's children, and also to Jan's brother in law. We also met Molly and Megan, two lovely little girls. I told Helen that you had been posting messages today and no doubt she will get around to looking at them in due course. I also asked if I could put up the order of service and as such attach it so everyone who wasn't able to make it can see it.  Just hope that my computer skills work ;) Although we didn't get to speak to Paul, as he was speaking to other members of the congregation and Glen and I weren't able to return to the house afterwards due to work commitments, I asked that Helen passed on all our messages of support for the family and hope that they join us on the board again soon even if it is just to say "Hello"

Hello everyone

I think mum would have been proud and happy with today's send-off. Still feels very unreal that she is no longer with us.  She had a lovely service which was both funny and moving and one she would have approved of I am sure.  A huge thank you to those to came along today to support us and say farewell to Rabbit.  Your good wishes and support has been amazing at this diffucult time
Love

What a lovely picture of our dear Rabbit that is! That smile, those twinkling eyes. I never met her in 'real life', but somehow, everything I knew about Jan is there in her face.

Hello Helen,

I am so pleased that the service went well, a special send off for a very special lady. She was very much loved and will be sorely missed.

I miss her humour and her wisdom and her advice, even when she regularly lectured about me about how I should stop being a vegetarian because it couldn't be good for me! ;)  She has left a rabbit shaped hole in my life.

Look after yourself

Love Elin xx

Hi jmp,

Thank you very much for telling us about the service, I was very sad not to be able to go and
that really helped.

I haven't been able to open the order of service and would love to see it.  Is any one else having a problem with it or is it just me?

Thanks

Elin
