such a secret
« on: Monday 30 April 12 21:11 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find more information about a lady by the name of Pauline Drew/nee Davis. She was born 8th September 1938 and bless her she died from Asphycia due to Drowning 2nd Spetember 1980. The cause of death being suicide. She lived in Mount Nod Coventry and I would very much like to find a little bit more as to how and where she died.I have her death certificate but apart from the place of death being Walsgrave Hospital and an inquest held in October of the same year it does not give me a lot of information. please can you help. many thanks

I'd be looking for an archived copy of a local newspaper (such as the Coventry Telegraph) - tried the local reference library?

If there was a Coroner's inquest in 1980, there should be a record.  I'm not sure about Coventry, but I've had success in obtaining inquest papers in neighbouring Birmingham from the city archives.

A problem you're likely to face, however, is that the inquest was too recent.  Birmingham operates a 75 year limit.

You could try contacting the coroners for Coventry

http://www.coventry.gov.uk/info/626/coroners-sudden_death_investigations/523/coroners

Her death was some time ago, they may not have the records now (might be at the Home Office) or you may not be eligible for a copy if you aren't a member of the family.
