Looking for Flora Layton 1911
« on: Monday 30 April 12 12:22 BST (UK) »
If anyone comes across a 1911 census entry for Flora (or Flo) Layton (or Leighton) born Malvern in 1889, I should be glad if you could let me know.

I cannot find her.

In 1912 she had my mother and the birth address was in Long Street, Aston, Birmingham so I would be particularly interested to know where Flo was the year before.

My mother was born illegitimate and never knew her parents but was brought up by grand-parents and (cruel) aunts !   Only when 'Aunty Flo' died did her Will say she was my mother's mother.     I have heaps of information on the Laytons in Worcestershire but obviously and sadly I am never going to be able to do any work on my mother's father's line.

We can't do full 1911 look-ups for copyright reasons. Please see
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,355485.0.html

However, the free index to the 1911 shows a Florance Layton aged 21 living in Upton on Severn RD (which I think includes Malvern).

Cross-checking this person on the free index on GR shows her birthplace to be Malvern Link - so a possibility ?

Creative use of the various free indexes available should provide you with the names of the others in the same household.

Sorry - I didn't realise 1911 census requests were not allowed.  But many thanks for your information.

I had seen this one myself and had discounted it as she was never known as Florance - but it is a big coincidence.   So I will look again.    Though I think she was shown as a daughter to the Head which would not have been her.
