Seathwaite(s):

It's perhaps a bit late to add to this thread, but you might like to know that
there are two places named Seathwaite (at least), a small village in Lancashire and a very small settlement (2-4 houses perhaps) at the head of Borrowdale in Cumberland; I have ancestors (Jopson and Braithwaite) from the latter.

Interested to read about Black Sail Youth Hostel -  I stayed there last month.

Hi

Just a quick note to say that I have various Tyson's and Braithwaites from the Seathwaite, Ulpha, Nether Wasdale area of Cumberland.

I will have a look and see what I can find.  Please let me know if you think I might have one of yours.

Regards

I found your names very interesting.
I have an Andrew TYSON born 12 Feb 1790.  Not too sure where, but two of his sons Robinson TYSON b1815 baptized 19 Mar 1815 in Kendal.
Henry TYSON the other son was born 1818 christened 24 May 1818 in the Parish Church Kendal.........
Andrew married a Sarah ROBINSON in Leeds.  But sometime in in 1815 Andrew was part owner in 'Constantine and Co' a Flax Mill somewhere in Cumberland.

The BRAITHWAITE connection is interesting.
Andrews grandson Henry TYSON b 24 Sept 1857 married a
Mary Jane Braithwaite SPENCE.
I wonder if her grandparents were BRAITHWAITE????
Can you shed any light I wonder.  It's a long shot but who knows?   Joan Ranger nee TYSON
