Kay-McKay birth 1862
« on: Friday 27 April 12 11:25 BST (UK) »
Mary Rebecca McKay (or Kay) was born Douglas, Isle of Man, around 1862 (from 1911 census info). Her parent were from Leeds, John Kay(McKay) and Mary Pyrah. He was already married. They presumabley married (bigamy?) on Isle of Man, before moving on to Ireland where the rest of their 13 children were born.

I cannot locate any info on this marriage (if it occurred) or the birth of Mary Rebecca. Can anyone assist?

I checked the Lawson Isle of Man indexes (http://www.iomfhs.im/lawsons/LawsonBMD/Main_Site_index.html?Submit=Lawson+BMD+Home) but can't see any marriage for John & Mary, nor a birth for Mary Rebecca?

Doesn't mean they didn't happen, but . . . .! ;D

And . . .
Birth Registration only started in 1878, so you aren't going to find a civil registration.
