Hi jc26red

Thank you for that :)

A bit unsure if I can help as reading her earlier posts it seems a long time ago that her original post went on but thank you :)

Since yesterday when I turned on my computer I am unable to receive my messages in Windows mail. I am able to send them but am getting this message when trying to receive.
Message number 24567 could not be retrieved. Account: 'mail.btinternet.com', Server: 'mail.btinternet.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR inactivity timeout', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800420CD
Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'mail.btinternet.com', Server: 'mail.btinternet.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F
I rang Bt but they said it was not a problem with them as emails can be accessed through bt yahoo. They suggested I get technical help with Bt but I think that would be expensive. Can anyone throw any light on this for me please. :)
Many thanks
Erin.

You say Windows mail is this windows live mail?

Right at this moment i'm getting exactly the same message..but i can still recieve emails right up to (in my case) No 5...No 4 is from an estate agent on a word doc..tried re starting computer, blocking sender address etc etc..trouble is all the emails i get are the same ones over and over again and the ones from No 5 are starting to build up..i'll see how it goes over the weekend..have had this problem before and it usually goes on it's own accord..will keep an eye on this post..just in case.

Try using nPOP - it enables you to preview and delete mail directly at the server.

When I rang BT I was told I had too many messages in my  in box. After deleting many the problem seemed to solve itself

In your on-line email account with BT you can save any messages into separate folders and categories. I friend of mine has several thousand going back a number years.

When I log on to have a look at my emails page, only the most recent eight show.        I have to scroll down to see the older ones.        I should be able to see more than eight because a large portion of the page below the eight emails is blank.

Is there a quick fix for this?
