Robert Morris Leicester policeman 1841
« on: Thursday 26 April 12 10:24 BST (UK) »
Hello,
I am hoping to find out more information on PC10 Robert Morris who was employed as a policeman at Leicester for a number of years. We know that he was there in 1841 because it is mentioned on his marriage cert with Martha Stevenson nee Smeeton. Also information received from the Leicester Register Office that he is found  in Reward Fund Book being fined 2s 2d on 15 Feb 1841 and paid 5s on 9 May 1842. To find out more would it be possible if some kind person (if they are already going to the Register Office) to check out information in the Watch Committee minutes (reference CM42).  I live in Oz and unable to get to the Leicester Register Office. Robert was born in 1809 in Wing Rutland to Thomas and Ann Morris. Thanks for your time. Margaret.

Hello Diddy,
Thank you for your reply. Yes, I have him in the census up until he died in 1881. I was hoping that if someone was already going to the Leicester Register Office they could check out his police service record for me. Thanks anyway. Regards, Margaret.
