Hello
I understand from a contact that the account of my gggg grandfather's trial for larceny was published in an Ipswich newspaper around October 1827. Not sure of how much detail there is.
He was convicted of larceny and transported to Australia for 14 yrs, ending up staying in NSW. His name was William Hawes (about 1801-1868) , and his actual crime was stealing pigs. Not sure what newspapers from around that time are digitised, if any. Is it possible to get a copy of the account of the trial from a newspaper, whatever the local edition was called then, from eg Ipswich Library?
As I live in Australia, any info is greatly appreciated.
Regards
Paul
