online/ cd-rom church parish records
« on: Monday 23 April 12 18:16 BST (UK) »
ive been told that after about 1800 the best place to follow ancestors is by using church parish records as these usually give parent names and dates and address.

can you get these online or on a cd-rom as it is not possible to go to the parishes and go through the records by hand

Family history societies usually publish something.

http://www.wfhs.org.uk/

Fiche or similar may be purchasable from local records offices

and Familysearch and Ancestry both contain some (dunno about Warks) registers online

If you start from here

http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/WAR/

and have a look at the parishes you are interested in, you'll get a pretty good idea of what is where.

Ancestry has some Warwickshire parish records on line because I've found some of my husband's ancestors in the Warks parish records.

BMSGH have fiches for many Warks. Parishes & a CD/DVD of St.Martin's B'ham.
http://www.bmsgh-shop.org.uk/
As has already been said Ancestry has a large number of Warks. Parishes digitalised.
Before 1812 the info you will get can be quite basic.Christenings will only give parents names (not mother's maiden name). From 1813 father's occupation is given & address but this may be just a viillage name or district.
Marriages will have witnesses but not parents names.
The National Burial Index (NBI) is another Parish record resource which is on CD/DVD although there are no images.
There are also these:

There are Mormon family history centers around the world - you can look on their website to find the nearest one to your home - then go along and order the copy of the parish register you want to look at there is a charge for ordering) then go back when the film arrives and search through the microfilm copy of the original record.

Hi
I have ordered a film from familysearch website on line,
for St James the Less, Ashted, Aston, Birmingham.
Bapt. 1882 -1904.
If anyone would like me to look for their ancestors while I'm going through looking for mine, send me a p.m.
Other churches on the film are;
St Annes and St Matthews, Duddeston
and St Johns mission, Ashted
