Dolores, wife of clergyman

Long shot....

My sister, Dolores* (b. 1935) believes she was named after a Spanish woman, who she thinks was the wife of her, or her mother Lilyan Jackson's, clergyman grandfather. Most likely possibilities for him are

William George Jackson (1874-1939)
George Jackson (1848-1917)
Henry William King (1843-1890)
Charles Henry Herbert (1873-1918)
James Joseph Young (1851-1941)
Spelling of the wife might be Dolores or some variation with a Z (Delorez?)

Jackson King and Young are very common surnames and you haven't given any details of the respective birthplaces of the names mentioned so it's impossible to look them up

Have you checked the 1911 census for the 4 names still alive at that time to see who their wife was   http://www.1911census.co.uk/search/tnaform.aspx

Have you checked the 1881 census for Henry King

I've only been doing this a week, and have mainly been using other people's trees to fill in my own tree (public Jackson / Johnson on ancestry.com). I found those marriages, but I thought they might not be exhaustive, or perhaps the 'grandfather' was actually an uncle or a lover. I guess I'm hoping that someone from the Spanish woman's family is looking for info from her side.

Lilyan was my mother and never talked about her family except to hint to my sister about her name, and once she hinted to me that her grandfather was a Scottish bloke who had a liaison with a Spanish woman. The Lilyan Jackson you've dug out (for which many thanks) is too old - my mum was born in 1912, died 1985. People's memories play up, and Lilyan might have been very young or have been told the story by someone else, so 'Scottish' might mean just 'Northern' or something else. It's not a lot to go on, but I told my sister (who's 77 now, and very interested) I'd try to find her namesake, so that's what I'm doing. The tree on ancestry.com is just a by-product of the search   

The familysearch.org site doesn't work here. I get the search page, but when I press the button to do the search I either get a page of HTML (the example I gave) or two little wheels turning, which I've twice left for an hour to do its thing before giving up.

There are many people here who will suggest taking things one step at a time and treating other people's online trees with caution.

Rather than trying to see if other research can fit with your own, start with your own and systematically work backwards purchasing some certificates along the way if you cannot find parish register and census information online which confirms what you discover.

Your mother's birth certificate will start you off with her parents names if you don't already have it.
