death and marriage registry
« on: Monday 23 April 12 10:13 BST (UK) »
Can anyone help me? New to this so please go easy!
I have tried finding a death register for a Lilian Spurr. Married a Robert Spurr in around 1924. She must have died as Robert Spurr married another woman in 1944 which states on the marriage cert that he was a widower. Robert and Lilian apparently had a few children...to which I cannot find either.

My other search is of a Ada Spurr who was born in nottingham about 1903/4/5 - she married at some point to I cannot find who..and moved to the west indies.

Any help will be greatfully recieved

Hi,

FreeBMD has this possible death registration:

Lilian Spurr   MarQ 1938    Basford   7b     172             Age given = 37

Basford registration district spans the boundaries of Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.

thankyou - yes, that sounds about right - Basford is within Nottingham. Wondering still about their children  and what happened to them? Have a feeling last child (a girl which I think belonged to them according to what I tried to look up) was born in 1938...so possibly a child birthing death?

Hi,

That's a possibility;  the death certificate will give the cause of death.

Robert Spurr married Lilian Butler in Nottingham, March quarter 1925.

If you search FreeBMD for births of Spurr children with mother's maiden  name Butler you will find five between 1926 and 1938, all in Basford district.
The last birth was registered in the same quarter as Lilian's  death.
