I suggest you visit or contact Local History Sefton at Crosby library and find out who was listed on the electoral roll for 23 Alma Road Birkdale in 1926/27/28 as that may help. I'd also see if you can find out from the directories at Crosby Library if any Fasono or Fascioni's are listed in the directories for Southport around that time.

Does the entry for the mother say Agnes Fasono formerly King? If it lists her as just Agnes King it definitely implies they weren't married.

Hi

Following on from Gibel's message, there was indeed a Fashoni family in Southport.  Their ice cream parlour was in Neville Street.  The proprietors were on friendly terms with some of my family.  I'm sure there are still Fashonis in Southport.  If you can find them they may be able to help.

Hello everyone! My name is Gina Fashioni - it should be Fascione but was changed way back in time to make it easier to spell and pronounce. My Gt Grandfather was Benedetto Fascione he came to Southport in the 1800s and was an ice cream man. My Grandad was Joe Fashioni. An Italian man used to visit him called Frank King, Grandad used to say that wasn't his real name but that it was "a long story" - which we never got to know. The child of Frank King (Fasano) who was adopted appears to have lived in Alma Road, Southport which is 2 streets away from where my family lived in Fernley Road. It all seems very mysterious! And now I have heard that Frank King (Fasano's) Grandad or Gt Grandad was called Fortunato - which was Benedetto's fathers name.

Interesting post, I'm John Reynolds and I'm on a journey to trace the King family line. Frank King (Fasono) b. 20 March 1928, registered birth in Ormskirk and lived in the Southport area, I believe is my maternal grandfather. He was married to my grandmother Doreen Clark in 1950 and they had 6 children together before separating; Frank, Ann, James, Kathleen, Louise and Kenneth all Kings. Frank went on to marry Olive N Williams in 1965. I'm lost as to why Frank Fasono took his mothers maiden name, from birth index records I have found it appears the birth was registered twice once as Frank Fasono and once as Frank King. (Registered: Q2 1928, District Ormskirk, Vol. 8 b Pg. 1415 for both registries in the index). I'm confused how the birth could be registered twice on same day with different surnames, same vol and pg. number? I'm still researching, I'm making enquiries with the GRO and will order copy birth certs for both registries to compare, but if anybody has further info. on Frank I'd love to hear from you. John
