Hi Sam,
No, unfortunately I don't have a number of a house on Castle Hill and I thank-you for the information on the two Tannery's.  I shall follow up on the 1st Rathfriland Presbyterian Church and see if they have any records re him possibly being buried there seeing that that was the church that the daughter called Anne got married in, in 1829
I'm pleased to know that there is a graveyard attached to the church.
Sam, When you Google, 'Castle Hill' do you have any idea what the old, very extensive building is on the right hand side, going up the hill.
Lynn.

Hi Jim,

Can you tell me what UHF stands for please.

The William Harriott Mayne is the correct one and his wife Anne Mayne {ne Newell}   -    I didn't have her death date so I thank you for that.

When you say Emerald what do I look up for that.  Shall look under Emerald right now and see if I can find it.

Lynn.

Jim,   I've found UHF  -  Ulster Historical Society.    A really good site to know about.    Lynn.

Hi,
UHF - Ulster Historical Foundation. A pay to view site which can be useful without paying.
Emerald - Emerald Ancestors. A subscription site.

Thanks,

I shall defnitely consider joining the Emerald Ancestors so as to have constant access to material unless you can suggest a better site that I should join, that would cover North and South Ireland, in more detail than:-

Ancestry.co.uk that I belong to.     I prefer to join this sort of thing for a year so as to make it easy to use it as often as I like.

Would appreciate your advice on this.

Lynn.

Lynn,
My knowledge of sites covering the whole of Ireland is very limited so I do not feel qualified to  advise you. However there are others on this site who are vastly more knowledgable than me so I am sure you will be well advised.

Hi Lyn
just in case you didnt know, the 1901 and 1911 census for Ireland can be searched free on line, there were still Newells living in Drumgath who could possibly be decendants of James.
