I cannot obviously see them; there are several Mary's that may be the correct one but by 1901 Mary Elizabeth could have been married at age 26 e.g. There is a Mary Curtis marrying in 1900 in Dublin South Jan-Mar V2 P671
Long shot but you've got to try soemwhere!

It may be quite difficult to follow up on them at all

They may have died  there are a few death records that match
They may have gone to live with relatives and taken their name
They may have emigrated
unfortunately the possibilities are endless

Had a further look at the family and went off track a bit but the following is interesting

In www.irishgenealogy.ie when you search for a Sophia Curtis she appears as a witness at many marriages in St. Mark's Church during 1883/4
She may have had some connection to the church??

I then thought that maybe the Lotons could be a source information and there seems to be several records that show several siblings, many again attached to St. Mark's Church, the addresses are similar if not the same on many and Blanche Loton married another Brass Finisher!

I had hoped that this would lead to a family on the 1901 or 1911 which led me to this

I think this could be the daughter Mary Elizabeth from the first marriage - all needs proof but sounds good!!

Thank you so so much!! I've been scribbling all that info down so I can sort it out in my head! Sophia Curtis was very busy indeed with all her witnessing:)

No problem JAD81
You may by now have also noticed the following entries that could possibly be Edward's siblings; they are marraiges in Dublin for CURTIS with the father in all cases EDWARD a Brass Finisher or Brass Founder

Alfred & Eliz KILLINGLEY; Charles & Eleanor McGlinn; and William George & Sarah Jane CURTIS are all listed on the 1901 census

Sorry a bit more scribbling for you!! but maybe many relatives!

Printer ran out of ink yesterday with all the info I was printing!!:) this is good stuff:) I had seen those marriages alright, pity no mothers name on them but I'll try find Edwards birth/baptism somewhere. Or it might be on marriage cert for 2nd marriage. Doing my best to get into GRO this wk but I'm not very wise to finding my way around the pale, have to get a guide:) The Curtis's would be appalled! Does anyone happen to know where graveyard for st. Marks was/is? Or St. Bride's?

You'll find your way if its in your genes!!
The GRO on Abbey Street is quite easy to find
If driving park where available to if travelling by
 Luas stop at Abbey Street;
 DART at Tara Street,
any bus to Bus Aras or Abbey Street
Enter from the large square of the Irish Life Mall/Building on Abbey Street and go towards the left of the square and it is in the building going towards the shopping centre.

Both St. Bride's and St. Mark's had an attached churchyard or else people went to local larger cemeteries

no Curtis there unfortunately

Thanks for directions and info, hoping to find what I'm looking for when I get there. That link v interesting! He has to be somewhere, have been to glasnevin to see other graves and keep them looking well, would like to do same for him! Guessing he's burried with first wife and seeing as she was so involved with st Marks they were prob burried in that cemetery. I'll keep looking!

Hi JAD81, You responded to an old post of mine regarding Healy and Curtis brass works.
I'm sorry to say, I've had little luck on that line. Keep an eye out for the name Healy, James or Christopher as witnesses on any of the certs you might find. It might help clarify the Healy Curtis connection.
Regards,
DC.

Hi DC, had quick look through stuff I got printed before ink ran out, no Healy yet but the surnames Thomas  and McGill have cropped up a few times and as far as I can see the Thomas family were connected to brass foundry. I have found a living relative(through marriage so they don't know exact details!) and she said that when the foundry burned down (1916) they spent everything they had to rebuild so I think they may have joined with Healy's then. As far as I know it was Edward's son Alfred who worked with Healy's. He also worked on building of Titanic.
