Photograph for Identification and Dating
« on: Wednesday 18 April 12 16:11 BST (UK) »
Please could you date and identify what rank and regiment this fellow was in. The picture is an unknown family photograph

The picture is printed on a postcard, with the following embossed on the bottom left hand corner: Fredrick Dew, The studio Park road Wigan. There are no other details.

Many Thanks
Allwood of Cheshire, Derbyshire, Flintshire and Shropshire. Pilsbury of Staffordshire and Shropshire. Andrews of Lincolnshire, Lancashire and Cumbria. Griffith of Caernarvonshire. Tait of Moffat and Dumfries

What a lovely photo...so clear and in such good condition...you might want to post this one on the Armed Forces board.

I agree you need to put it on the armed forces board, however he doesn't look armed foces as he doesn't have any insignia or medal ribbons.I thought maybe RMS.

Good morning,

Given his apparent age I would have expected him to have medal ribbons circa WW1. Also, even officers would have worn their whistle and chain across the front.
