I should have given that information ! My grandfather`s name was Michael O`brien, b August 13th 1896. Dunbar , East Lothian ,Scotland . I suspect he would have been awarded the medals that were given to most soldiers in those days . I have a photo of him ,he would be about 18 , but not sure of the uniform , except he had tartan trews ,and I think the hat was a Gengarry ?
I am sorry to say that the person who sold them is now persona non grata ! So no contact is possible.
He lives in Edinburgh so the chances are he sold them possibly to an antique shop, of which there are dozens , if not hundreds
