Jemima Lamont/ Moore thomas Moore
« on: Tuesday 17 April 12 19:55 BST (UK) »
Looking information on Jemima and Thomas Moore I believe they left Ireland sometime between 1901 and 1911 for Canada. Jemimas Parents were William Lamont and Matty Ann Lamont ( Luke) I know they had one son Thomas but i think he stayed at home with a relative.

Is this the Moore family in 1901? if so, could the son be named John rather than Thomas?
www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Antrim/Dunminning/Caralunty/940011
Jacob Moore died 1903 and left farm to son Thomas, etc.

If the above Thomas & Jemima Moore are the ones you are looking for they didn't go to Canada but will wait to hear before posting details about them.

I could possibly be wrong on where they ended up. I can't find them on the 1911 census. you are correct the son john moore i think is elsewhere in 1911. but i believe from what i am told they did emmigrate, it could be USA instead of Canada.

Are the Thomas & Jemima Moore you are searching for the ones I found in 1901 Irish census? If so, I have more information.

In that case, I have found them  :) Looks like Thomas left earlier- see www.ellisisland.org to view N.Y. passenger manifests.

23 Oct.1909 "Columbia" arrived New York from Londonderry, Ireland-
Jemima Moore (transcribed as Jamima), age 29, married
Children: Annie (9), William (7), Jacob (5), James (2 years 6 months), Thomas (11 months).
From Cullybackey; nearest relative in U.K. Jemima's sister Mrs. Eliza Wilson, Drumcon, Rasharkin; going to (husband/father) Thomas Moore, 19 Franklin Ave., Harrison, New Jersey.
They should now be found in 1910, 1920, 1930 and 1940 U.S. census records, etc.

Will ask the Canadian Moderator to move this thread to U.S. board so you won't have to start another one.

a submission to the IGI has Thomas Benjamin Moore and Jemima Lamont death in Oregon but no dates...these are not always reliable but a stepping stone https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.2.1/9SFM-P8B
death of son John in Ireland which doesn't make sense so there you go... https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.2.1/9SFM-PDT

Did you get the marriage Oct-Dec 1899 Ballymena https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FYZ3-YQM

You can find them, same site in Kearny Ward 2, Hudson, New Jersey 1910 ( couple with same names of similar age in new York so tread carefully) and I do see Jacob in Oregon 1930 so

If correct family 1930 has them with four more children but not absolutely sure this is yours as you'll need to locate the 1920...should be New Jersey according to oldest son still at home! https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XC9H-P6P
Joseph, Jemima H, Paul F. and Leslie D.

Ah, I was wrong they are already in Clackamas, Oregon 1920 and I give you that clue as the mother & daughter not properly named...and with them is a son John born 1901...
Happy hunting through the censuses https://www.familysearch.org/search/collection/list#page=1&region=UNITED_STATES&recordType=Census

Do see death of Leslie D. at a young age  https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/N3Y9-9JL

and just because I found it just now, perhaps a sister for Jemima, altho mother is "Martha Ann Luke" https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/F56T-JJF although may be a stretch as Jemima was born Ballymena
