Pete - It's Glenn Chinery from the USA.  I have the info on Thomas Chinery --- AND his father --- AND his grandfather.  I've also found out definitively who "William the Migrant" is (William Chinery who showed up in New York City in 1828.  Email me; I sent you a couple of emails in the last few days.

Yes - OldBrummie is P**** P**** from Australia, a distant cousin.  We were regularly collaborating on researching our common ancestors up until I had to take a several month break for medical reasons.  Now I don't get any responses from my emails.  I hope  he's ok.

Greetings,
I am in search of the marriage records for Susan (Susannah) Chinery and William (Wilhelm) Bowers.  They lived and had many children in the West Village of New York City, NY.  William was born in Germany, but I have little information on Susan.  Perhaps they lived somewhere else before moving to New York.  I have check marriage records in Find my Past, Ancestry.com, Family Search.  The date of marriage should be somewhere in the range of 1870-1890.
Thank you in advance for any help you can offer,
Anne

Hi
I can't see your marriage but Susan looks to be  a witness on her sister Charlotte's marriage in 1874.
Charles Smith 21 seaman 44 Clarkson St parents Baltasar Smith and Frances Martha Herbert, married Charlotte Chinery 22 348 Hudson St 11th .Sep.1874
Parents Charles Chinery and Ann Kelly
witness Susan Chinery

Unfortunately Charlotte is working as a domestic in 1870 and not with the family.
Mother Ann born 1812 Ireland widow is with the couple in 1880.
Charlotte buried /died 19th April 1898.
Charles Chinery married Ann Kelly 22.9.1838 at Transfigaration NY Catholic Church Age 25 and 22.
The couple have 3 children baptised there.- Eliza 11 Jan/15th 1844 ,Charles John 11th Jan 1846 and Susan born 11 Jan 1848 bapt 4.6.1848.
Ann Kelly Chinery buried Woodside 23rd June 1884 bc 1821 d of James and Ann Kelly
https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/252739835/ann-chinery

Father Charles could be the Charles Chinery born 1.11.1816 Birmingham bapt 11.1.1819 St Martin's Birmingham s of William and Charlotte Chinery nee West.
William and Charlotte married at St Mary's Handsworth 6th April 1807.
William was a Lapidary and moved to New York by 1830 when he was naturalized.
(He recommended James Chinery engraver of Birmingham for his naturalization. James born 1794 was the son of Thomas and Mary and applied Nat. 11.11.1830.)
Charlotte 1792- 4th Sep 1842 Manhattan died of consumption  and was buried Rutgers St Cemetery.
Children Charles 21.8.1809,Ann born 16.8.1811 bapt 7.1.1811,Elizabeth 26.3.1813,Charles 1816,William born 10.3.1819 ,bapt 12th March 1821.

I'm not tracking them too well in NY but that could be down to the spelling of their surname.
Of course I could be wrong and finding Susan's marriage would help a lot. And obviously the birth for Susan seems a bit early .
I'll keep digging.

Got them!
1855 NY census
Charles Chinery 40 England
Ann 39 Ireland
Mary J 13 New York
Eliza 11
Charlotte 9
Susanna 7
Ellen Conley 22 border Ireland
Bridget Johnson 18 border Ireland

Elizabeth /Eliza married Theodore Manson 25.11.1869.
It looks like the Chinerys in NY are all connected.

My records indicate that Charles Chinery was married to Ann Finnegan of Roscommon. Yours are showing Ann Kelly.  I am in search of a death cert for Ann Chinery to see if one Ann was replaced with another.  Hmmm.
Thank you for all of your help.  It's always interesting how one question can lead one down a long path with many twists and turns.
Thanks,
Anne

Hi
I got Ann's surname from the children's christenings. So I ran with that.
