Looking for helpwith photo

I m a newbie so hope I m doing this right  I recently found this photo at my Mum and Dads home and have no idea who it is. I m beginning to think its my maternal  grandad but looks nothing like the grandad I knew but obviously I didnt know him when he was young.

 He was in WW1 and had atered his age on his birth cert so he was only 16 when he was sent to France he was a messenger riding a motorbike to and from the front line with messages I dont know any more, would that fit with the dating uniform etc of this picture. he would have been born and living in Leics at that period of time

Can you rescan this at 300dpi.This is a bit small to do justice to & can you leave out the scanner bed.You are allowed up to 500Kb. filesize on here,yours is 39.
If you have a problem just shout up.
Just a bit of info. your Grandad was lucky to come back alive,messengers were a favourite target for German snipers & their mortality rate was very high.
I recently visited some tunnels that ran under the trenches at Vimy ridge & the only people allowed to sleep there were Officers & messengers.

Hi Blue Poppy :)

Do you have any pictures that are definitely of your grandad?  Why not post one and we'll see if we can compare it to the one of the soldier, to see if there are any similarities?

Just to confirm Jim's post, yes this is a photo of a WW1 soldier :)  If you were to post a bigger, higher-resolution image, we could get the badge identified. If you can find an existing service record for your grandfather, this could be compared to the cap badge ID.
