Fatfield - St. George's Church
« on: Sunday 15 April 12 19:51 BST (UK) »
Does anyone have access to the burial records for St. George's Church, Fatfield? I am trying to locate the last resting place of my great grandmother, Isabel Parker, 1885-1953.  At the time of death, she was living near the Biddick Inn, Fatfield.

Thank you in advance for any assistance with this.

Hello mtoto - thank you for doing this - much appreciated! Not sure to be honest where to look next. She was definitely living in Fatfield at the time of her death so St. George's was the logical choice. Back to the drawing board for now.

Just a Newby here -  and saw your request... - if you haven't had any success by now contact the church office details are here
http://www.stgeorgesfatfield.co.uk/contact.html

We are open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays - 9-4 pm, sometimes later, sometimes out  - but will always return your call -  0191 415 4200.  Lorraine Cooke is our administrator who I work with.  At the moment, our Vicar - Nick Barr-Hamilton is working on building a web site so that anyone in the world can click on a loved-one's grave photo and details will pop up.  The Grave Yard is almost full, so we are looking to close it within a year or two.

I will get back to you via Rootschat after I look in our Records of Burials in the office tomorrow (21/9/2019).
Take care and God bless,
Jo C

Dear PAulR

Found your relative - Isabel Parker, born 1885 - death 1953 (68 yrs)
Ms Parker lived at 1 Biddick Inn Terrace, Fatfield and the officiator of her funeral service was Reverend C J Parry-Evans.  In our register Ms Parker is listed on page 40, burial plot number 317.  Feel free to visit the office for more info and of course to visit the grave site. As I mentioned, Rev Nick is busy plotting all graves, but our old map is always available for you to look up the exact location.

Hope all this helps in your searching.

Thank you very much, Jo C. - much appreciated. I will certainly call by the church soon. I only live in Burnmoor so not too much of a trek. I have explored the churchyard at St George's some years ago, so I am not hopeful of finding a gravestone but it's very reassuring to know that it is my g. grandmother's final resting place.

Have to echo candleflame's  comments.
Your Vicar is doing a wonderful service, both to those of us who research into the past and to the memory of those who have gone before us
