Switzerland Lookup - Auguste Bersier

Would like information for Auguste Bersier who was born circa 1829.  He appears in the 1850 Kings County, NY census with Birthplace listed as Switzerland.  Also, Switzerland was given as Birthplace for both his parents.

Hi,
Bersier from before this time was a surname from these communities:
Cugy, Morens, & Vuissens in Canton Fribourg, and Cully, Lutry, & Villarzel in Canton Vaud.
The parish records are in the cantonal archives so find the website for each canton and drop them an e-mail.  However they may want you to visit or use a researcher.
For a general overview of Swiss genealoy see this extensive website: http://kunden.eye.ch/swissgen/schweiz-en.html, though it's a bit thin for these two cantons.  However links for the genealogical societies for each canton are there which could be another line to try.
