Archibald Wilson Lauder a joiner by trade sailed to NZ in the "Arawa" bringing with him a sawmilling plant to be set up on   asite in the Oteramika Estate, morton Mains,Southland for the NZ /Australia Land Corp Ltd.Archie & Sarah lived on the estate where housing was provided for married men. The couple later settled in Fortrose (Toi Tois)Sarah died 24 Dec 1892 aged 78 yrs at Fortrose.Archie died 1st Sept 1899 aged 85 yrs. Archie's brother James died at Mataura Southland 12th Jan 1880. Archie & Sarah's grave unable to be located as early official cemetery records were burnt in a fire at Fortrose. a memorial plaque placed on grave of Mary Gregory (nee Lauder), their daughter, commemorates Archie & Sarah. Thanks for the snippets guys.
I did not know Ada was adopted so must add that to my records, thanks.

I see you have a copy of the Gregory Family history :) but believe their arrival on the ARAWA should have read ARIMA,  I have since done some research on the Lauders arrival in New Zealand and it seems that: on 25  Jun 1864,  Archibald Lauder, and his family (sons James, and Robert - not located Walter to date - from his first marriage also came to New Zealand, where James continued his trade as a baker, while Robert worked as a rabbiter),  sailed from Glasgow, Scotland for  Bluff, Southland, NZ, arriving 21 Sep 1864, (not 1863 as stated in the  Gregory Family Book) on the second voyage of the "Arima".
Sarah Lauder nee Stewart's Death notice seems to confirm the year of arrival, does the arrival of the goods, ex ARIMA for Sarah Lauder, Southland Times, Volume I, Issue 56, 8 October 1864

Southland Times , Issue 11938, 8 January 1892, Page 2
Fortrose. There passed away rather unexpectedly on Christmas Eve one of the old settlers of this district in the person of Mrs A. Lauder, who, with her husband, has been residing in this district for the past 17 years. They came to the colony 27 years ago and first of all settled at Morton Mains. Only a fortnight before her death the golden wedding of the aged couple was celebrated. She leaves a large family, all grown up, 26 grandchildren (25 of whom followed her to the grave) and 2 great-grandchildren.

Can forward you a PDF copy of what I have put together on the two voyages of the ARIMA to New Zealand, if you would like to send me a PM with your email.

The James that died at Mataura on the 10th Jan 1880 was the son of Adam Lauder and Mary Laidlaw
whereas our Archibald Lauder d. 1 Sep 1899 was the son of William(James) Lauder and Catherine Wilson
so it is not possible that they were brothers.  :-\  I do have the death certs for these two also if you like a copy.

cheers Jewelz :D
