Hi Doug,

William HOOKAWAY was baptised 7 May 1837 Bideford parents William a lab and Elizabeth

John HOOKAWAY was baptised 12 May 1839 Bideford parents William a lab and Elizabeth

William HOOKAWAY = Elizabeth DENNISS 21 Apr 1833 Bideford

It would pay you to follow up on the parish record of the marriage. Please see

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,546609.0.html

That record is a pedigree resource file so it has been submitted and may not be correct. The fathers name may have been taken from a death certificate. Information on death certificates is only as good as the person providing the information. These boys are not with their family in 1861 and I am not spotting them elsewhere. Suggest you try the Australia Board for any Australian records you are after.

Cheers Kris  :)

hi kris,
thank you for the info on the hookways, when the came to australia they dropped the a in hookaways and
became hookway, i also received an email from the devon family history and they came up with the same
names but no one else has come up with the name of hookaways?.
