« on: Saturday 14 April 12 06:28 BST (UK) »
Charlotte Amelia Ellison was born in 1864 and married on 21st November 1888 in Lincoln to Michael Stocks son of Major Michael Stocks.  They lived at Upper Shibden Hall Halifax but don't know for how long and want to find out if when living in Halifax if they had any Halifax Ellison relatives.
Anyone any idea.?

I'm not sure about your link to Shibden Hall?

Calderdale Council says it was owned by the Lister family?

Undertaker is talking about Upper Shibden Hall, which appears to be a different establishment.

According to the fount of all Calderdale knowledge (Malcolm Bull) Upper Shibden Hall was first mentioned in 1277 and was owned by the de Shibden family.  On Malcolm's website Calderdale Companion there is a list of owners - including Joseph Stocks and then Michael Stocks who rebuilt it around 1800 and it is now known as Catherine House.  Malcolm's site also includes a photograph of the grave of Major Michael Stocks at St John the Baptist, Coley.

sorry about the Capital's bit just have a bit of a difficult computer and when using it sometimes don't know if the caps are on or not when you're typing.
Thanks for all the information. My interest really is if they spent any time in Halifax together at Upper Shibden Hall and when those dates may be. Also I am related to Ellison's in Halifax and want to know during her time there if she was related to any of them as there's sort of two camps of Ellisons there at the time she was and wanted to know if she was related to any of my branch.

Looking back through the census returns for Richard George's parents, Richard and Charlotte Ellison of Boultham Hall, I can't see anything to suggest that they had any connections in Yorkshire.  Richard was born in Westminster and appears to have lived at Boultham Hall since at least 1841.
