I'm not sure that the information that Ellen's father was Amos is correct, even though Ellen listed it on her marriage record.
On the Colonial Secretries letter regarding children of some females who were working in the Parramatta Female Factory in 1833 to be admitted to the King's Orphanage, Ellen Fellows extract:
Ellen Fellows - born 22nd Augst 1830
Baptised at Coventry
Mother Elizth Fellows - Fanny (ship she was transported on)
Father James Fellows
Father information was probably provided by Elizabeth Fellows.
Ellen Fellows lists her father as Amos Fellows on one of her marriage records.
Amos Fellows born 24 Aug 1800 to John & Mary (White) Fellows in Nonconformist Registers of Coventry, England: Cowlane, formerly Jordan Well Baptist Church 1761-1837, pg 16. Also in the same source is listed the burial of Amos Fellows 26 Oct 1824, aged 24 years. Same church records probably indicates that Amos born 24 Aug 1800 died 26 Oct 1824.
My ancestor, Amos Fellows (b. 1829), lists on his marriage record that his father was William. However, the family story is that Amos was left, at age 3, with a tailor named Charles Ingram, when his mother (a widow or abandoned?) was caught stealing linen and shipped off to Australia with a younger sister. Since he was 3 when he was left behind, would he know his father's name? I can't find any record of Amos' birth which he lists on a later church record as Coventry, England. I'm still trying to link this Elizabeth Fellows to my Amos or find his mother.
