Have you tried searching 1910 U.S. census or 1911 Canadian census? 1920 U.S. Census?

Vermont is not a place James Rennie would have sailed to from Ireland- have you looked for records of him leaving the U.K. and then arriving in Canada? or U.S.?
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

I have a James Rennie, born County Antrim about 1877 (the family were from around the north coast)

Father: William John Rennie, born 1851
Mother: Margaret Kennedy Rennie, born 1847, died 1908

The family moved to Scotland for a time, where James married and remained.

In 1897 James married Margaret Brennan. They had eight children that I can identify.

He is found in the 1901 census, age 24, living at 14 Cardwell Road, Gourock, Scotland.

Died in Scotland about 1920.

James had several siblings; most of those returned to Ireland, as did his parents.

I have other information on this branch, if interested please reply.
