My Martin collins was born in 1853 and on death certificate has Margaret McCarthy and Martin collins as parents. Margaret collins his sister Married 4 times. It seems odd that only 2 children and same name as parents.
I investigated Simon and Simon death certificate lists John collins as his father this John collins also has a daughter named Margaret but is not the same Margaret that’s Martin’s sister.
My dad said the potato famine in Ireland maybe killed parents and Martin lived with uncle and came to Australia with uncle and cousins.
My Martin came over at 11 but his sister didn’t come over till 10 years later.
I can’t find any record of the family living in Ireland so maybe they just said they were from Tipperary as that’s where the uncles was from.
I can’t even think of where else to look for information as it looks like both Martin and Margaret (brother sister) appear from nowhere and no matter how is search I can’t go back any further then Martin collins born in 1853
