Sarah Balfe, born Abt.1907/8

Hello, I'm trying to find any information on my grandmother's niece, Sarah Balfe born about 1907/8 in Westmeath. Sarah Balfe is the daughter of George Balfe and Julia ( Sheil ) Balfe.

I found young Sarah( age 3 ) living with relatives in the 1911 Census, the Dungan family in Castledaly. Sarah's mother, Julia (Sheil ) Balfe is living in Mount Temple as a Servant.

Sarah's father, George had traveled to Brooklyn, NY in 1909 to witness the marriage of his sister, Sarah Balfe to my grandfather. George did travel thru Canada to visit his sister Sarah a few times in the USA, but I wonder about the rest of the family, Julia and young Sarah.  Any information or direction would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

She might be Sarah Maria BALFE birth registered Sep qtr 1907 at Athlone volume 3 page 12.

Thank you very much for your information, it is very helpful. Especially young Sarah. I wasn't sure of the exact year. I will have to go and find the film with her on it to view the exact date of her birth.

I have found George traveling thru the borders of Canada and the USA a few times to visit my grandparents Sarah and Michael. Originally, George came to witness there wedding in June of 1909. George arrived on April 7, 1909 and stayed until July 24,1909 and returned to Ireland. I searched the border crossings further and he appears a few more times alone, going to visit my grandparents.

After the 1911 Census of Ireland, I have no information on his wife Julia ( Sheil ) Balfe or their daughter, young Sarah Balfe. I did find that Julia's father is Andrew Sheil.

Might they have moved to Dublin?

There is a death for Julia BALFE aged 74 (born c1873) (c1871 on 1911 census) died March qtr 1947 Dublin North volume 2 page 323 FHL film 101743.

FHL film for Sarah's birth is 101071.

Andrew SHEIL & Ellen GANLY married 1867 Athlone volume 8 page 18 FHL film 101250

That's about all I can find. Sorry that I couldn't find anything for Sarah.

Thank you for this wonderful recent information. I have only recently started back on this branch of my tree and this is very helpful.

Young Sarah, born 1907 was living with relatives in the 1911 Census and listed as cousin. The head of household was Thomas Dungan. Now back to 1863, Julia Dungan married Michael Balfe at Mount Temple. My grandmother -Sarah Balfe, born 1883 and her brother- George Balfe, born abt. 1884/5 are 2 of 17 children of Michael and Julia.

I truly believe that you are on to something asking me if Julia ( Sheil ) Balfe may have moved to Dublin. I really don't have a solid answer to that question, could very well may be. I know that the siblings did move throughout the County of Westmeath and also Longford.
