Thanks for replies. I have found Henry in all censuses from 1871 to 1911 inclusive. His first wife Mary Ann died soon after the 1881 census & he remarried in Q3 1883 to Alice Richardson. Henry was buried 7 March 1914 at Newtown Road Cemetery, Newbury. It looks as though I will have to purchase a certificate or check Brimpton parish records if I can manage to visit Berks RO at some unknown date probably well in the future.

I have just ordered a copy of the 1841 census which should be with me in a couols of days so I can do some more research then if it helps :-)
