Leeds Electoral Records 1916-1921
« on: Wednesday 11 April 12 08:17 BST (UK) »
I hope someone can check some electoral records for me.

My great grandfather lived in Leeds from about late 1915 until his death in 1921.

From a couple of letters, and a birth and a death certificate, I have a fairly good idea of where he lived during that time, but I would love to find out who he lived with, as many family members came up from Norfolk to live with him throughout that period.

Hi name was Lewis Archibald BUCKINGHAM, and his wife was Mildred.

By 1918 they were living at 5 Regents Road, Horsforth, Leeds.

In November 1919 they were at 3 Bradford Rd, Horsforth, Leeds.

In March 1920 they were back at 5 Regents Road.

And at the time of his death in 1921 they were living at 11 Edinburgh Road, Leeds (I think this was in Armley).

If anyone has a chance to look at these, I would really appreciate it.

Cheers,

Lewis

That would be wonderful.

Any time at all that you can manage would help me greatly.

Hi

called into the library yesterday - unfortunately the years you require for Horsforth  are held in the West Yorkshire Archives in Wakefield on microfiche and  I would  need to 'book' a machine - I have intended going for ages as I need to check some records held there, not as 'handy' as Leeds City Library! but I will make an effort to go now, not sure when, but hopefully in the next few weeks

cheers

Pat ;)

Thankyou Pat,

I really appreciate it.

I realised that even with the street address, it could be a bit needle in a haystack to search for them. So I've looked up which District, etc the dresses were in the 1911 Census.

5 Regent(s) Rd was in the parish of Horsforth in the Registration district of Wharfedale in West Yorkshire.

11 Edinburgh Rd was in the parish of Armley and Bramley in the Registration district of Bramley in West Yorkshire.

I couldn't find Bradford Road in Horsforth in 1911, and present day googlemaps has the closest one in Guisely. I've checked the letter the address came from again, and it definitely says Horsforth, so I presume it would have be same Registration District as Regents Road.

Thanks again, and I look forward to hearing what you find out.

Cheers,
