Hi, I have just come across the name Hayes that may have a connection to my Family. John Thomas Hayes born 1833 Westminster London He married a Maria from Galway (no surname)1841. One of the sons I am looking for is Frank B Hayes 1871 cofusion as to where he was born  Sealkole E.Indies? or India?
Any info will be appreciated...

there are baptisms here for the Hayes children in India

The place is Sealkote - you can google it.

It looks as though Maria was married before as 1881 has Holloway children.

THANK YOU so much for this information I have never seen records set out so clearly  Do you think that Marias birth name was Hogarty and she is from Galway? I wonder what they were doing in India! Other children were born London.

Yes she was a Hogarty at Birth.

Remember Mary/Maria are often interchangable
Caroline Married a William HUGHES, a Solicitors Clerk, 27 Dec 1891, St James, Islington.
Marriage Record has her Father as James Holloway, Deceased, Architect

EDIT John Hayes is a Pensioner in 1881 so it looks like he was in the Army.

If you have access to Census James Holloway was in Yorkshire in the 1861 Census. Born c 1839, Ronadstone, Clare, Ireland. In the Barracks and down as Married.

Hi Trish, Thank you so much too for the info,what its showing is my lack of knowledge,  especially history!
I have a Funeral card for Maria and Ive been trying to unravel who was my Grandmothers Father. On my Nans birth cert. there isnt a Fathers name but on her marriage cert her fathers is named as Frank Hayes. I recently came across a census showing Frank B Hayes and a visitor was a Lizzie Elizabeth)Pridgeon and her daughter Maud age 5, the birthplace was correct so this started the ball rolling again.

Maria Hayes is my great great grandmother - she was married twice, Holloway was her first husband and then she married my great great grandfather John Hayes.

She had a lot of sons, although as far as I'm aware most remained batchelors.

Would be very keen to know about the funeral card - appreciate this is 10 years on
