Hello, i'm new to this site but thought i might add to the pool of comment.
My Father, Reginald Braine worked there as a Porter in the 1920's and 30's.
My Grandfather, Albert Steele, also worked there, i think, as a buyer.
Aunt Doris Steele/Burgess worked in the accounts dept.
It would be nice to have some more information but all i know about the firm is what my Father told me. Goods would come in by cart via Fazeley St, Fellows Morton and Clayton Wharves. Also, that sometimes 200 wt bags of sugar had to be carried up flights of stairs, on his back!
