New member here - first posting.  Been doing FH research for 20 + years, took long break, now retired and got hooked / addicted again !

My grandfather (father's father) died at 37yrs from TB in 1915 and had worked as a tea mixer at Warriner & Masons in (I think Digbeth), Birmingham.  Does anyone know if there is any information on this company anywhere online ? I always want to know all about a subject in FH and not just have names and dates !  Many thanks

1914 Kelly's has this;
Warriner & Mason Tea Dealers 97 & 98 Digbeth.
Wholesale Grocers:
97 & 98 Digbeth;16a Prospect Row;138 King Edward's Rd;Ellen St;Hingeston St;Parker St. & Bellis St.
My family lived at 99 Digbeth so the Co. would be at the bottom end near Floodgate St. close to Smithfield market which makes sense.

Many thanks to you for both very prompt replies.  It is  an enjoyable activity on a wet Bank Holiday Monday ! I am having a wonderful time sorting / organising /  clearing out old FH files / boxes.

I have / did check on Google but it didn't give me much that was helpful - unlike the answer from jim, many thanks for that   - Google (or bing for that matter) did give my posting here and the one from tina morana!

Of course, what I would really love, is if the staff records were available for W&M giving Joseph Hunt's details when working there .   Dream on !

Hello, i'm new to this site but thought i might add to the pool of comment.

My Father, Reginald Braine worked there as a Porter in the 1920's and 30's.
My Grandfather, Albert Steele, also worked there, i think, as a buyer.
Aunt Doris Steele/Burgess worked in the accounts dept.

It would be nice to have some more information but all i know about the firm is what my Father told me.  Goods would come in by cart via Fazeley St, Fellows Morton and Clayton Wharves.  Also, that sometimes 200 wt bags of sugar had to be carried up flights of stairs, on his back!

This my first post. My Grandfather was a Warriner. He told me that the company was sold to a tobacco company (I do not remember which one) back in the mid 1960's. It was then delisted in Scotland (?) in the 1980's.

Over forty years ago I worked in the insurance industry and the name Warriner & Mason rang some distant bells. If my memory is correct the company may have been in Bearwood Road, Smethwick in the 1960s. I also remember a story regarding one of its' last directors (not in anyway derogatory by the way) and will try and remember his name these sometimes come back to me.
I don't know whether this titbit is of any use to you.
