HELP!! can't recieve my texts!!

can anyone help with this? i have a samsung galaxy europa and i'm having problems with it today, on the bar at the top of the screen there is a little red box, and that means phone storage is low, so i have un-installed a few things but it's still there, also i've been getting texts coming through but the phone is rejecting them saying the messaging is full! but there are no messages in there!! what can i do??

I did a Google search on this and there are others with the same problem, but no answers. I find that there are two ways to solve these problems. The first is to download the user manual from Samsung and do a lot of reading and the other, and by far the easiest, is to take it to a phone shop and get one of the young lads to solve it for you. I've never had a user problem yet that those kids can't zip through the phone's menu and adjust the settings.

Had to laugh. Whilst I was researching the problem I came across the same problem which occurred after an iPhone update. It seems that iPhone has a new limit on how many messages you can store, 75,000! Apple help line apologised for the reduction.  one of the posters said they had messages that had been on their phone for 2 years. 

I read a message, reply to it if needed and then delete it. Same with my email. If I want to save an email it goes into a folder in my documents.  I just can't imagine having more than 75000 texts on a phone.

Sorry, just have to post this, as it has me chuckling.  This person needs help:


Yeah I deleted EVERY text message I had an lo and behold my texts work again.  This is, unfortunately, another example of the extrememe paternalism of apple.  "you don't need to hold onto that many messages so we'll make you delete them - its good for you"  Really, how is it their business how many texts I hold?  If they had maybe mentioned the fact that anyone with too many texts will have that feature of the device essentially diabled I might have not done the update or at least not as quickly and found a work around with a third party program.  Unfortunately none of the windows based products that I found currently can access the sms mailbox if you're running ios5.  Just a simple word of warning would have been nice.

Is your phone full of photos and/or videos?
Have you anything else stored on the phone? Documents perhaps?

These all use up storage!

Hi, got it sorted now, i also googled and as Jamjar says---seems to be a lot with the same problem, i came across one and that person said about uninstalling apps, so i uninstalled apps that i was'nt really using and the little red box at the top of the screen dissapeared and my txts came through! so now i know what causes it---to many apps installed, beginning to wonder if all the updates that come through for these apps take up space?
why do android have all these apps if you have to take them off for space for txts!?

yes i have photos and videos on the phone but there stored on the SDcard, anyway i'm glad it was a simple thing and it's sorted as i do like this phone.

In reply to your question about the apps.

My Samsung has a 16GB memory card inserted and I am able to save most of the apps to the card. Some apps you can't do this with and they must be on the phone itself to work. It is trial and error. You move them to the card and see if they work, if not you simply move them back to the phone.
